The Chattahoochee National Forest and the Appalachian Trail provide a variety of hiking trails from a pleasure hike to a strenuous climb.

Clarkesville - The Mountain Laurel Festival, the oldest mountain festival in Georgia, is held here every May.

Demorest- This historic village was founded in 1889 by a group of settlers determined to build a model town one without alcohol that could become an educational center. Many older homes remain including one of the most historic church buildings in North Georgia.
